Another Sad Love Story Chapter 18.2

“This is your home Su-Jin. This place is where your husband lives so this is your home,” Jiyong answered calmly. “Are you gonna go inside or do you want me to carry you?”

Su-Jin couldn’t do anything but follow Jiyong. She went inside that very familiar building, took a ride in that familiar elevator, and reached the front door of that familiar apartment. But, when she went inside, that familiar apartment wasn’t so familiar anymore. Everything had changed, from the color of the walls to the furniture and appliances. The bright and happy mood of the apartment that she left became dark and dull. She wanted to ask Jiyong what happened but she didn’t pursue her question.

“I changed everything after you left. I changed everything that reminded me of you,” Jiyong explained.

Su-Jin felt a blow in her heart. It hurt her to hear that Jiyong didn’t want to be reminded of her. That anything that had something to do with her had to be changed because he didn’t want to remember her.

“But,” Jiyong continued, “there is one thing I couldn’t dare change at all.”

Jiyong walked towards the room which used to be hers and opened it. To her surprise, everything inside it was where it was supposed to be before she left. She entered the room, opened the drawers and the closet, and walked around, but she couldn’t find anything that was missing. She couldn’t hide that she was amazed at how the room stayed the same even after six months.

Jiyong, who was by the door, was secretly smiling to himself. After Su-Jin left, he never thought that he would see her inside that room again. Or that he would want to see her inside that room again. But, when she entered that room after how many months, it answered why he couldn’t make himself change anything in that room.

“I’ll go to my room now,” Jiyong interrupted. “Just call me if you need anything.”

“Wait!” Su-Jin hurriedly called before Jiyong could close the door. “I was wondering, where’s my picture?”

“What picture?” Jiyong asked, bewildered.

“My picture, the one I placed here, on top of this table,” Su-Jin reasoned with her hand slapping the place of the bedside table where the picture used to be to express her point.

“Oh! That picture? I threw it away,” Jiyong choked up.

He was lying. The picture was actually in his room, on his bedside table, right next to his own picture. But, he didn’t tell her that. Instead, he lied about it. He left the room in a hurry, leaving Su-Jin still not satisfied with his answer.

Su-Jin was once again lying on the same bed she used to lay on when she was still living in Jiyong’s apartment. She was really having a hard time getting to sleep. 24 hours ago she was sleeping on a futon bed in that small apartment of hers. But at that moment, she was staying in the room next to Jiyong’s room….again. And it felt like she never left at all. It seemed that she was there all along even after all of the time she was gone. It was really the place she was supposed to be. She belonged there.
